Barney suffered a fibrocartilaginous embolism in September 2007. Thanks
to his dedicated owners, he received the intensive therapy he needed and made an excellent recovery. Barney's owners carried
out his daily physio programme provided by Sarah and he also had hydrotherapy - It wasn't long before his balance began
to improve and he was able to get back to some of his usual pleasures. The combintion of swimming and physio in the early
stages of recovery worked well for Barney. Barney maintains his function with maintenance hydrotherapy.
"She has given us new exercises for Barney at each visit, which take into
account the changes in his body and the need to change how we are treating him. She has provided equipment and has been at
the end of the phone for advice, when we have had any worries. She has kept us and Barney motivated throughout.
We
are now at about 80% recovery physically and Barney is able to walk on his own, although not always in a stright line! His
eyes are getting better as well."
